Saal Digital UK is a professional printing service, accessible for both consumers and professionals. I found a link via Facebook for a requirement of product testers for a Saal Digital Photobook, luckily I was actually in need of updating some printed material. I filled out the eligibility form and was successful! Saal Digital UK provided me with a voucher to spend on their photobook range in exchange for an honest review.
Product: Photobook, 28x19cm (A4 Landscape), Matte with 30 pages. (Photographs and video below)
I give the overall experience a hefty 10 out of 10! here’s why:
Quality: The quality of the photobook is great, a lovely finish with a robust feel. The quality of the images is the best i’ve seen to date in a photobook with pin-sharp images and excellent true colours. I use a 24mp full frame Nikon, the images came out great, the images you see spread over two pages are one single frame from the camera – no resizing or ‘blowing’ the image up.
Software: The Saal Digital software is light (does not take up much diskspace) and fast. The user experience is good with a drag and drop with easy navigation which I found to be smooth, clear and intuitive to use. All in all I spent approximately 1.5hrs in total putting the photobook together, I was trying many of the features too! You can create a PDF version of the final photobook which I thought was a really good feature as I can send this via email for clients to proof view before the photobook goes to print. Happy clients = happy Photographers! 🙂
Cost: The photobook I opted for came in at £40 (inc. delivery) which was well worth it in my opinion! – I have used other services paying similar prices and not received the level of quality Saal Digital delivered.
Delivery: The book was printed in Germany and sent (tracked) via DHL and when received in the UK was transferred to ParcelForce, both of which are highly desirable courier/freight services. I created and ordered the photobook late on a Friday night and received the photobook on the following Wednesday, for which I am very happy with.
Conclusion: I’ll be using Saal Digital UK for my photobooks from now on and am looking forward to using them again for more of their product ranges, I’d happily encourage anyone to do the same. Thank you Saal Digital UK!
